Re-lay used ceramic floor tiles ?

I laid some ceramic floor tiles 3 years ago onto a floor that previously had Marley tiles on. Now there are around 12 tiles in a line that have lifted, hollow sound when tapped, and they need to come up. I don't have that number of spare tiles so will have to re-lay the originals. How the *** do I get the old adhesive off the tiles to enable me to reuse the tiles?

Try soaking in water then scraping off
