Floor tiling onto Marley tile adhesive residue?

I have stripped out marley tiles and want to lay ceramic tiles onto the concrete base.
There is a film of old marley adhesive on the concrete, is it ok to grout directly on top of this, and if so, should I add PVA to the grout?
