Hi,
we are replacing an old concrete floor - two layers of tiles on about 4" of concrete, it did have a thin DPC all ontop of 'loose earth' (on the piece we have dug up so far) though we may find that the next part of floor maybe onto solid rock shale...Having to do in two stages. This floor has to marry up with new extension 4" Celotex over concrete, with 2.5" of screed as per building regs (that was when we found the solid rock shale). We want to keep digging to a minimum but putting in the 4" of Celotex.
Can we dig down - level - put a layer of sand - DPC - Celotex - then tile directly onto the Celotex?
Or must we put a 2"min screed.
Any advice gratefully recieved
We've been reading about Marmox Board which seems to be insulated but is it as good a u value as celotex and could we tile direct onto the boards?
