Just looking for a bit of advise. I want to repaint the exterior render on my house while the scaffold is up for new soffits and facias. Generally the current paint isn't in bad condition, but it has started to flake in places. Mainly on the black areas. The previous owners left behind half a tin of the paint that was used previously which was Sandtex smooth on the black and textured on the cream. I believe it was painted around 7 years ago. Pictures attached.
My plan was to scrape off the loose paint, wash down, rake out and fill any large cracks but leave the hairline ones before repainting with smooth rather than textured. Is this a good idea? or should I use textured again? I was thinking a smooth paint as it may stay looking cleaner.
Also do i need to use a stabilising solution first to stop it flaking off again? I've rubbed my hand over it and it isn't chalky.
I was thinking of using Touprelith F as a filler unless there would be anything better?
