Hi
I have a really old Baxi Back boiler which is not compliant with new nice Baxi front end fireplaces - so I have to put up with the standard issue council horrible 1960's front end that I currently have.
i cannot afford to replace the boiler (nor do i really want to as i've been told by a service engineer that it is in excellent condition) but i really want to renovate my lounge and this horrible gas fire isnt going to make the room look good.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do ? (other than cover it up with a tablecloth or any other firehazard type suggestion)
Has anyone managed to make one of these look good?
Also, i believe that by law, i need to keep the two concrete slabs underneath the fireplace - these are about 12 inches in length from the base of the boiler. Is that correct? or can i replace these huge slabs with a smaller hearth or something?
