Started a damp proofing job today. Hack off old render on party wall, drill and inject then render and skim.

There's a section of the wall that was covered by wood cladding that's so damp the concrete bricks have actually crumbled away leaving couple of large areas where it goes straight in to the cavity. This obviously needs repairing.

Was going to fill below the floor to just under the floorboards with ballast then lay a dpm and then rebuild about 1m up with thermalite blocks. The reason for the ballast is the course in line with the floor has crumbled away so need it to support the bricks.

a pic will be really helpful i think what your saying is that there is nothing from the floor down to to pick up the brick work from?? soo you need to make a footing st start off??

if this is the case you need to have a look at what way the joists run as you mite have to pick up the joists as you come up from the new footing.

is it a load bearing wall? if soo id re block it with 7N concrete block just to be safe.
Ps if it is a load bearing wall id get some strong boys on that asap
