Recess for inset gas stove

Morning all

Our daughter has recently had a new CH boiler installed in her home.

The old back boiler occupied this space ....



She wants to fit a gas fired 'woodburning stove' in its place.

I have the task of preparing the hole into which it will fit.

Any ideas what I should use as a render to tidy up the brickwork inside the hole?

There are several Building Regulations covering the installation of stoves which require a Building Notice submission unless you use a registered installer.

I will only be preparing the recess. The professionals will fit the fire.
