Can anyone tell me please where I can purchase some old 6 inch floorboards, or Scaffold Boards about 8 - 10 feet long in the Beds/Bucks/Herts area. I am looking to use them for shuttering.

Sorry, I could tell you loads of places in Essex. There's one particular supplier around here that gets hold of reject laminated chipboard. (generally bits of the laminate missing on one side). If you're using it for a one off job, laying a slab, it's ideal. Just use once and throw away. Comes out at about a quid a length of 8ft by 8 inches.
When I needed some accurate shuttering for a garage base I used some cheap boards then found the edges were not straight so set them a little wider than needed and screwed some 6" wide melamine chipboard inside the timber boards making sure the next board was level using a spirit level all round. Result. Perfectly level base.
