Hi,

Looking to buy 3 pieces of reclaimed oak to replace a simple arch on my front path which has had to be taken down. Reclaimed wood will best suit as I think this will be more in keeping with look of house than new.

However, I'm getting crazy quotes: £300 for two 8' x 6" x 6" supports and one 5' x 9" x 3" top piece. I live near Croydon - anyone know of anywhere I can find something a little more 'reasonable'?

Cheers,
Mike.

I'm just outside Croydon and get my green oak from Scott Timber, they sometimes have old posts & beams or could certainly do you new oak for less that £300.

Or if you fancy a ride out may be worth trying here

You should be able to get that much new 'green' oak for under £100. It weathers to a silvery grey quite quickly if you don't treat it with anything.
