I would like to lay reclaimed pine boards. The underfloor is made of pine boards but can not be used for lease reasons. At the moment there is carpet with an underlay and underneath thin MDF tiles that are attached to the original pine boards. Could I leave the MDF tiles and the carpet underlay (to keep an sound insulation) in place and just nail the reclaimed pine boards on top. I would be very grateful for some tips.

Can't see a problem with this and I'm guessing that the MDF tiles maybe there for fire resistance, so may not be allow to remove it?
