A couple of dimmers that a builder fitted a year or so ago, when they did a loft conversion for us, are starting to fail. The light flickers on/off when dimming and usually switches off when left on a dimmed setting. I gather the ones they fitted are very cheap, all be it to UK standard.

Going to ask a new sparks to fit a specific type and brand.

We need one for a 240 volt 1 way switch and another for a low voltage (6x 20w Halogen) 1 way switch.

Does the low voltage need to be rotary only or can we use a push switch for that too?

Which brand would you recommend?

Thanks

Varllight make very good dimmers. And they offer UK phone and email support if you get any issues.

Don't see any reason why you would be restricted to rotary for low voltage......

This might be wrong but I was told rotary on/off was for a 1 way lighting system, and push on/off is for 1 or 2 way systems. I personally prefer push on/off as it seems a lot less effort!

More or less right, you cannot use a standard rotary dimmer for Two way inconjunction with a standard 2 way lightswitch
