Have just bought quite a bit of Red Grandis, a cheap hardwood in the Eucalyptus family, to make some cupboard doors. In its natural state it's much pinker than I realised - and than I want.
It's got a good grain though, so I'm guessing it should look good if I stain it with something. I tried Dark Oak Brywax on a bit and it left the main colour unchanged and then highlighted the grain in near-black, an interesting effect but not sure it looks right.
Any suggestions for oils or stains to get rid of the pink? Don't mind a reddish-tinge, but don't really want pink cupboards.
Thanks,
Chris
