In April 2005, the Government agreed that those applicants who do not hold the relevant qualification but successfully pass their site assessment and meet all other requirements will be given a year to obtain the required qualification. These applicants will be granted 12 months' Conditional Registration with the Domestic Installer Scheme.

Them figures from elec local about the 1st van costs made me laff, what do they base those on, lol?
whats the point your making bas?

ElecLocal are having a laugh or what.

For £24500 (your initial setup costs) you could establish yourself with a new van for that very easily, probably a lot more effectively and possibly even cheaper..No I correct myself, 100% cheaper..

The problem is that you then have to cough up a minimum of £596 a month to them BEFORE you make any money, plus 15% management sales fees..

Mr Electric tried this the other year...they have hardly made an impact on the market, I've seen three of their Vans in 2 years in the whole east of England and London...

Waste of time and money.

No point - just stirring it hoping to get you lot foaming at the mouth and sounding off about 10-week electricians and NICEICs criteria reduced to one question: "What is your name?".

Ah well.

Probably. All the way to the bank if anyone signs up.

Shall I be pedantic and point out that 100% cheaper means zero cost? Maybe not

The words rope, money and old come to mind...

Waste of time and money.
Yeah, but not theirs...

Yes bas if the point was to stir it up you certainly did with me, i aint got nearly enough experience as you fellas on this forum and im stirred up, but just think bas, some poor bleeder is going to get suckered into this, so much for the government keeping a tight rein, these are the people who start these companies we should be targetting, along with recruitment agencies...who are PARASITES

To be an Electrician all you need is a ten week training course and one weeks "hands-on" and thats it.

Well call me crazy but...

thats fantastic. I mean I've just studied an entire year doing my part 1 and passed, and all I really had to do was go stump up some cash to some fly by night cowboys and HEY PREST- Fully Qualified.

I wonder if they have a bonus scheme included-

100 pounds per Fatility

50 pounds per Maiming

10 pounds per Animal Death/ Maiming

Its good to know that John Prescott is cracking down on cowboys

and by that I don't mean a Tranny...

Anyways I just got my girlfriend to read the eleclocal website, and she went crazy *rse saying that I should have done that rather than go to college to study full-time!

Now being nagged by my women may not be the usual topic to be posted here but this is what occured to.

If my girlfriend (who know's as much about Electrical Installation as the average adult) says thats a gift horse looking you in the face how many Limp-wristed PROCESSED morons armned with 5 days site experience (thats how they get the NVQ awarded) and a Multi-Tester are gunna be out there in the future.

Scare's the Hell out of me!!

actually just read all this crap again, still cant believe it, its like them horse racing tipster things saying buy me for a grand and my boss tips will make you a million squillion quid, tell you one thing though, gives me a bit more confidence in my 3 year course

Actually in terms of the 10 weeks training time, this wouldn't be far off. You can do C and G parts 1 and 2 over 2 years, but only studying one day a week. I worked out that the amount of teaching days that this gives you is about 50 - the same as 10 weeks full time......

However, this doesn't give you any experience of what the job really entails - I week of on the job training is woefully inadequate!!

The rest of the franchise bit bonkers!! Who's gonna cough up 150 quid for a really unflattering orange uniform?!? :?

Sparkybird your slightly out with your calculation for days, the time it takes to achieve C&G 1+2 works out at about 100 days, also the average day is 9.5 hours over the 100 days
