redecorating spare room

the spare room in my house has been papered, so i decided to take the paper off, which was fine except a) there was about 9 coats of wallpaper

and b) the wall has cracks galore (probably why papered),

now i have all the paper off i am in a position where half of the wall is down to the bare plaster, and the other half is on its base coat of paint.

should i give the area where its plaster a coat of undercoat, then coat the whole thing, or should i sand down all the paint off the walls?

do you just want to paint the walls after or will you be puting paper back up?

if you will be painting you need to make sure you have washed all the paste off the wall becuase if you have not it will make the paint crack when it is dry.

just painting. i have done one session of washing, but am going over it again and again as ill have missed a few bits
