Hi,

I have replaced my flush valve with one that has an internal overflow.

Can somebody give me an idea on how to make good the old overflow pipework? Should I cut it flush with the internal wall and fill it? Should I remove it completely and make good inside and outside or is there a cheaper less time consuming way to stop cold air and insects getting in? Is there such a thing as a blanking plug for overflow pipes?

There is a thing called a tap hole stopper - one siliconed to the wall will make good even on a tiled wall

Nige is talking about filling the hole in the cistern... I think you want to fill the hole where the pipe went.

Expanding foam in the hole... mortar to fill in the hole on the outside and decorators filler for the hole on the inside...

or...

you leave the pipe in the wall and fill it with silicone.
