I have a weatherproof socket box outside my front door. It is not used. The cable (with a power breaker) runs from the bottom of the box, through the door frame and the plugs into a socket in the porch. I would like to get rid of it, as the cable is in the way. As I can see the cable coming from the bottom of the box, am I safe to assume that that is the only cabling involved? Is it just a case of lifting the box off the wall?

Thanks in advance...

I would think so. If you are sure that the power to the socket is coming from the plug/socket in the porch, once you have unplugged that, you can do what you like with the socket and cable. If you have any doubts, after you have unplugged (what you believe to be) the supply to it, plug something into the outside socket to make sure that it doesn't work!

Kind Regards, John

Thank you John, that's a good idea. The lid on the box is stuck fast, so I will need to force it off and then plug something in for peace of mind. Thanks again :)
