Look at the result of WW2.
Russophobia in the 1930's led to all out war.
Russia ended up ruling half of Europe , Britain became bankrupt and lost its empire.
America became a superpower.

Interesting documentary on Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill discussing the carve up of postwar Europe.
