Reform party ditch all the tax cuts they promised

Might aswell give the new kids on the block a go then? ......maybe
I have to admit, there 'is' a bit of me that would be intrigued to see how they would govern and whether their tenure would be sh1te, on a par with the established lot, or better.

My concern is it could lead to Scottish independence coming to the fore up here again and I dread to think of us breaking away. I am pro union.

Scottish independence would be a price worth paying

In what sense? Do you mean you'd be happy for Scotland to break away? I'm not asking that in a contentious way, just asking the question :)

A situation could arise at the next GE where the SNP, if they maintain their current resurgence, could influence a no overall majority coalition at the price of a further independence referendum. How the Scots see re form as good for Scotland is beyond me, hence my comment.

"The far right are the biggest terror threat..." is notoriously the most ludicrous claim made by the loony-left. Nobody has ever successfully explained how this is so; you certainly won't be able to.
The populist right are the greatest threat to the living standards of ordinary British citizens.

Privatise the profits, socialise the losses

The Irish who worked on the canals were not immigrants, they were British, and they were not the only workers, just a small section.
They were economic migrants who undercut the wages of local labour force. They were portrayed as uneducated, and uncivilised, whose dangerous foreign religion so threatened the established church it had been banned for hundreds of years.

Aside from any politics, I would be very sad if there was Scottish independence.

Although personally I think the support for Scottish independence reached its peak at just over 50% and that’s not going to be repeated, even with a Reform govt

Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampshire, Surrey, Essex and East and West Sussex are trying to get their county council elections postponed because they all know that Reform will win.

I think some, obviously not all, are growing increasingly disillusioned with the SNP. You're right, Scottish Labour was gaining traction but much of that has dissipated, possibly due to Starmer et al. So we find ourselves in a situation where Reform are gaining in the polls.

I think that actually sums it up for many people. It's perhaps not so much they're desperate to vote Reform, however they've become disillusioned with the established parties spouting the usual rhetoric with things continuing to get worse.

poor SPLINe has been sucking at the GBnews teat again

in reality, this was decided a long time ago, way before Reform had a very short term minor gain in councils

Reform have totally fekked up every council they control, nobody's gonna be voting for those ham shankers :ROFLMAO:

These county councils will cease to exist. Once an elected mayor is in place all councils city, county districts will be merged into either one mega council or possibly 2 or 3 councils. Their whole election area will change and anyone elected will cease to be a councillor and a new election will need to be held. So the proposal which was always on the cards was to postpone for 2025 start the Local government review. Elect a mayor in 2026 and form a full new council on new council boundaries in 2027

I think reform councils are now realising that there are no magic wands to wave

I haven't heard of anything promising coming from any reform council
