Refurb smoke alarms

About to start a rewire next week for a builder who has been scheduled from the council, not a council i usually work in. On his schedules there is no mention of any smoke alarms, when i met him yesterday i told him we should really put 2 mains in, he said,"if its not on the list, it aint going in" what do you fellas think?

It's a Building Regs requirement, not a Wiring Regs one.

If you're not going to get paid for it then don't do it - you've made your point... but you might want to run a length of 3-core in, for when the building inspector spots the omission from the spec!
