H, I am currently in the process of refurbishing a British army pace stick, they look like this new http://www.superbadge.com/pace-sticks-1.htm , I have mine in two pieces and have sanded the old finish off of most of one stick. When I have striped both sticks down I need to sort a few things out, the main being to straighten up the sticks because when the stick is closed they do not line up at the end and there is a gap where the two sticks don't touch when closed, this tells me that the wood is warped, how would I fix this so that they both line up correctly when reassembled? Also the brass parts of my pace stick have a few problems, the main being that they are brass coloured and I require them to be silver, is there any way to change the colour, I bought this second hand so I'm not sure if it is real brass of just brass plate. Also the feet of the pace stick (the bits hat go on the bottom) don't fit together perfectly (they are bent) is there any way to straighten them up so they fit together perfectly, also there are a lot of dents in the brass part of the feet, is there any way to remove these dents?

I am aware that this isn't really explained very well and I apologise for that, if you need any pictures or anything, just ask, I can take some.

Thanks for all help in advance.

Daniel
