Hi,

What is the best solution for dealing with the 'aftermath' of mold, please? On matt emulsion walls and ceilings.

The root causes of the problem have been resolved. Condensation! I'm left with the black staining / spores. I have tried scrubbing with bleach and sugar-soap. It's faded but by no means clean. Someone suggested using paint-stripper but I've some very, very large areas to be sorted, in many rooms.

My thoughts, a paint-over with stain-block and then emulsion over with a mold-inhibitor added.

Any good? Any other solutions?

TIA

Depending on the extent, sometimes you can just emulsion over it.

If it was pretty bad, which it sounds like it was, oil based undercoat or Zinsser BIN., or other stain blockers before applying the first coat of emulsion.

Anti-mould paints? They will be in a constant state of releasing fungicides in to the air. I'd suggest using water based eggshell BUT you may find that you get more condensation in bedrooms during the winter (when windows are closed over night). You will however be able to wipe the condensate off the walls before the mould appears. The moisture will literally run down the wall, not good for carpets though.
