I've sacked a builder after he made one mistake after another on a conversion job. It now needs a full re-skim, new skirting boards and door frames. I've been quoted approx £2000 for the work but the builder has only offered me £900 off his bill. Is he responsible for the costs of the remedial work?

If you are holding the cash still? then deduct £2000 from payment and tell him to sue you if he wants any more.
