Remove a radiator with only one valve

Hi; I have a radiator upstairs that I want to move and therefore need to shut off temporarily. Most of the radiators in the house, including this one only have one valve, the other side has a big chrome nut.
The heating system is gravity fed and they are 1960's single panel rads
I assume without two valves I will need to drain the system, which is fine, but if I then cap both ends can I refill the system or will I need to connect the pipes. The reason I want to refill, is because there will be a two week gap between taking the old rad off, and installing the new one. In that time I'd rather have some heating in the rest of the house!

Is your central heating a one pipe or two pipe set up ? The latter would be ok to cap off both pipes for a couple of weeks. The former would need a connection between the two.
