Remove a Sterling 10 alarm

I wish to remove a Sterling 10 house alarm, and was wondering if there is any set procedure to do this and avoid setting the alarm going off, i.e with the system dis-armed can i just isolate it from the mains supply and then just start disconnect the wires etc.

Power down mains and battery disconnect bell box battery if fitted or working , remove wiring ..

When i turn the mains power off the outside alarm is set off, even though the control panel says the system is disarmed is that usual ?

The only problem sometimes is what happens to what is supposed to happen ...
Eg power down a system and the external should ring !
