I wish to remove a Sterling 10 house alarm, and was wondering if there is any set procedure to do this and avoid setting the alarm going off, i.e with the system dis-armed can i just isolate it from the mains supply and then just start disconnect the wires etc.

Power down mains and battery disconnect bell box battery if fitted or working , remove wiring ..
