We're in a 3 story victorian terrace and we want to move my lad to an attic room but need to make some more storage for all his stuff like his board games etc.
The room has a dormer window and running parallel is the eaves. I would like to board out a couple of meters worth and box it in and create some access from his room - I'm thinking a small 500mm-600mm opening with MDF door and architrave just in from of where the TV is.
Tied to the purlin are struts tied to each joist at about 400mm centers. There is a pic below. An opening like this would be OK for him at this age but not when he gets bigger. So wondering is it OK to remove one strut, building a frame so it is attached to the purlin and the two ajoining struts?
Cheers
