Can someone suggest the best way i can do this ?I mistakenly painted over all the wood surfaces in my hall and stairwell with this stuff which not only looks awful ,but kind off peels off, except not easily enough.I cam remove the doors lay them flat and use a belt sander , but its the architraves and skirting boards that are more of a worry. They are shaped to such an extent to make sanding awkward. Thanks

I should add that i also wish to paint the surfaces with an alkyd paint after stripping the acrylic

Acrylic is the way to go. The oil stuff goes yellow in no time.

BTW, there is no way of getting the stuff off.

it might be if one could avoid the annoying brush marks and it would stick properly to oil based painted surfaces

Wrong prep.

Sand well back and add 5% water and use best synthetic brush.

There's more to decorating than opening a can of paint.

are you suggesting that by doing that it would stick to an oiled based painted surface without first applying a specialist primer like one of those made by Zinsser?
