Hi,

my tv used to be on a wall and we have moved the tv leaving a visible double socket half way up a wall. What is the correct way of removing the socket connecting the cables (if allowed) so the hole can be filled and painted over please.

Generally due to the way "safe zone" rules work for wiring in walls, you can't remove a socket without also removing or at least disconnecting the wiring feeding it.

So the big question becomes how many cables are there and which direction(s) do they come from?

2 twin and earth cables

Choice then is to remove the cables completely, back to their source, and link the ring back up; do a joint in the existing back box and put a blanking plate in place of the socket, or simply leave the socket in place where it is.
