Hello all,

I have recently installed slate countertops into my new kitchen and have made an error using boiled linseed oil to finish them. Now know I need to use mineral oil but was wondering what the best way to remove the linseed would be?

Any ideas are most welcome

Cheers

I would try using paint stripper on an area not on show. Linseed oil I think used to be used in paints so the stripper is worth a try. Then use a hard wood scrapper to clean it off. One can easily be made from a kitchen utensil. Then use a non-scratch pad and water to help clean off. Some spirit base liquid may be needed for the final clean, such as methylated spirit.
Not sure about using a mineral oil to seal it unless its especially for granite tops. The stuff you put in cars contain toxins.
Apparently polished tops don't need sealing.
