Removing candle wax from worktop

The other day, I split candle wax on our new worktop. Although, the wax has been removed from the top surface, the wax split can be seen where it has become ingrained into the surface. Any ideas for removal that won't harm the surface any more?

Usually, candle wax is cleaned up by scraping off as much as possible, then using a hot iron or a hair drier and some absorbent material such as kitchen towel to soak up the molten wax.

However, if you are concerned about the heat damaging the surface you could use a solvent such as methylated spirits and a nylon brush.

need to know if its wood rather than normal worktop
and if its wood hows it been treated

big-all - the worktop is laminate with a very fine grain (ie not smooth and shiny on top), so the wax has soaked into the grain.

If the worktop is a laminate, of whatever sort or texture, the wax cannot "soak" into it and will merely be on the surface.
Some very hot soapy water and a toothbrush/nailbrush should get it off.
