I have managed to detach an old waste disposal unit by undoing three securing bolts but remain yet to remove the supporting collar. There is a snap ring (part of the red lever) in place that I think should be shifted somehow but I am finding this confusing. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I know nothing at all about them but my guess is pull the lever down and twist the whole thing on a bayonet fitting.

I managed to get it off eventually, FP. The lever is part of what is called a ‘snap-ring’ and, as you say, is designed to be twisted to let the whole WDU drop through the floor. This thing though was pretty gunged up and required a copious dowsing of WD40 before the lever would shift. But it did go eventually. Thanks again.
