Hi guys,

Not sure how to proceed..

Want to remove the sliding doors that go from our hallway to the stairs, but this will leave no bannister on left hand side.. This seems odd to me but I can't think what to do.. My DIY is alright but I may have to get a professional in.. So want any suggestions as to the cheapest way to raise the left hand side and possibly fit a bannister.. Then make a decision as to whether I do it or not... I really just needed some inspiration :)

It’s odd as it is. What do you see when the other door is open?

Are you going to reduce the opening to a single door?

You can't open the door, it's sealed shut.. Only the open door slides across runners that have been installed on top...

how many habitable floors does your house have?

You could remove existing and replace with with solid wall or a few sticks stairs to ceiling .
Then handrail from base post to top.

if you open up the doorways, you will lose heat as warm air will rush upstairs.

In the event of a fire, it will be much worse.
