Need to remove an interior door but I see that the hinge has got some sort of spring loaded chain between the middle hinge and the door. Perkomatic I think its called.

I've heard I may need a special tool to remove this?

Or can I just unscrew the hinges?

And yes I know I need to replace afterwards.

Special tool? Not really. All you need is a panel pin. Open the door fully. Using a pair of pliers jam a panel pin into the chain of the Perko closer, then unscrew the Perko plate from the door before removing the hinges. The pin will prevent the cahin from being pulled back into the body of the closer which has been inserted into the door. Nasty things, Perkos, if you get your fingers trapped by them!
