Removing masonry paint

Is there any way to remove masonry paint from the exterior of my house? It's a 30's semi that the previous owner thought would look good painted. They lived here for 20 years and it has had lots of coats in that time.

I was thinking sand blasting, but presumably that may damage the brick face?

Any ideas?

tell the sandblaster to use less power and when he's finish put waterproff sealer on ,thompson make one its sold at wilkinson

That was one of the reasons I wanted to remove the paint - to let the walls breathe.
