Perhaps you can detail how you sorted it, for the benefit of the next person who has th le same question. I would expect there to be nuts that come off, visible if you look down the back of the shower with your head against the wall, or decorative caps/sleeves that hide nuts that hold the block onto the pipes
Yes, of course. I am probably going to say what everyone else already knows, the nuts were at the back, but I was trying to loosen them anti clockwise as a screw. I hadn't realised you have to turn clockwise opposite of a screw. (I am a complete novice but im pleased to say that I managed to take it off and replace with a new shower tap!
I wouldn't expect them to be reverse threaded, more likely that you're saying "clockwise" because that's the way a screw at the back of a thing turns to undo if you adopt a perspective of looking at it from the front of the thing.
Imagine instead you're standing inside the wall looking out into the room (so you're looking at the nuts front-on and when you undo them they move toward you) - the would undo anti clockwise like any other, from that more typical perspective of "looking at the face of the nut/screw"..
Long story short, when pondering on what direction to turn a screw, (imagine to) arrange yourself so you're "looking at it face on", even if that means you have to eg imagine yourself inside a wall
