Removing old concrete fence post

Afternoon all

Best way to remove an old concrete fence post, please, preferably without specialist equipment.

I'm minded to cut the post at the base with an angle grinder (supported whilst doing so, to prevent nasty accidents) then use a chisel attachment on an SDS drill to break up the base and concrete ball.

Any other constructive suggestions welcome.

To remove just the post hit it a few times at the base with a lump hammer then push and pull it to and frow and the concrete will crumble away at the base when bent over you can cut the steel reinforcing bars wth an angle grinder.
But to help get the lump of concrete out of the ground you may find the post still being there helpful as leverage.

The problem is when you have no post you have nothing to pull out the broken concrete with unless you dig a very big hole to almost get under it.
If you snap the post at half way had break off the rest of the concrete exposing the reinforcing steel you can bend that over into a loop and get something very big as a leaver and you may be able to get the concrete lump out in one go after a little bit of digging around it

Screw thick timber to it and car trolley jack to lift it or a long heavy timber over a fulcrum to lever it . Rocking it gently first to loosen base .

Yes, jacking it out using the existing post is easier.
Leave the post as long as possible for mechanical advantage.

If we had a couple of dozen acres of garden in which the blast might dissipate, and no breakable windows nearby, maybe. But not in the humble garden of a semi detached bungalow in Wales

If you can get close to it with a car, tie a strong rope to the tip of the post and pull gently.
It should come out and leave a massive hole for you to fill.
Especially posts fitted in 1950/1960 have massive amount of concrete underground.
They use to build to last.
