I have just started to replace my badly worn monobloc tap with a new one. how do i go about removing the old tap from the tail pipes as these are solid into the fixed pipes. I cannot seem to get the compression joint apart, and cannot seem to get a spanner into the recess to turn the fittings :(

Sounds like you might need to cut through the pipes with a cutter/slice and then fit new tap. Either new flexi's might reach, or just extend the old pipework slightly.
