Hi There

I am about to remove an old outside toilet (1950s guess) and I can see a suggestion from a previous poster that I can use a drain plug to seal it off.

Question:
Do I just put cement over the plug afterwards or is there a better way of hiding it?

Many thanks

I'd avoid using a drain plug, if it works loose and finds it's way down the sewer, you can end up with a much bigger issue. I'd fill the pipe with expanding foam, then concrete over the top to a reasonable thickness. Ideally if you can locate the other end, fill that too.

Thanks. Finding the other end may be difficult but I'll have a go.

Not essential, but stops rats using it as a hidey hole. They like a dry section to nest in, and if the little beggars can find a way out, they will.

If the pipe is pvc you can buy a rigid plug which cannot fall into the pipe because it has a lip.
