Is there any special way or substance used to remove old tile adhesive ready for the wall to be retiled.

Does it all have to be removed or can you get away with some still remaining.

Any tips or help appreciated

As long as you can fit the new tiles without the old adhesive interfering with how flat you lay the new ones then it'll be fine to leave some remaining. Just try and get the high peaks off as best you can. As the saying goes, "preparation, preparation, preparation"
Cheers,
Gcol
