What sort of gloves are needed to protect my hands while I remove paint with a hot-air gun? I suppose rubber would melt in an instant? Obviously I'll need to avoid putting my hands close to the source of heat in the first place but the nature of the work means that they can't be too far either.

you dont use gloves or any protection realy
you could make shure you wear a sleeved top long trousers and closed footware incase a scraping off hot paint goes flying
you could also use a mask if you dont like the fumes but not usualy essential as theres little or no dust

you hold the gun at 90 to 45% to the door and scrape with a hooked or flat scraper
the end off the heat gun gets very very hot as does the end off the scraper but not much else the handles will be at body temperature cos you holding them but thats it :D
