I have a new Windows 7 machine and another XP SP3 machine, both on wireless network. I can view the files on the xp from the W7 machine but cannot copy them to the W7 machine. The sharing is set on the files and full permissions for everyone, however, when I check the folder properties on the XP machine, the "read only" tab is set. It appears to remove OK but when I check again its back. Any ideas?? TIA

The read only checkbox applies only to files, not folders. When you set or unset it it applies to all files within the folder.

in your file sharing settings you need to tick allow network users to change my files, otherwise they are read only, you cant copy them, only view from the network location.

to change this, go to the shared folder, right click then properties, the sharing is in there.
