Removing shower face plate

Hi

I'm trying to replace the thermostatic cartridge in a Tavistock dual inline shower.

How do i remove the face plate without cracking a tile? !!

Gentle pry? Sharp blade first if any silicone has been used.
 
I think a lot of silicon has been used! Any spray i can apply to melt it?
 
Big, thin carving knife, and saw through the silicone.

Cheesewire and 2 wooden batons and saw through the silicone
