Removing Socket from Kitchen

Removed a pillar in the kitchen. It had light switches and a socket fed off a spur.

The socket is no longer required. Is it OK to block off the end of the socket cable with a 30A junction box and leave it inside the ceiling?
 
I see from your other thread that you intent to plaster over the hole, you shouldn't really leave a live cable terminated into an inaccessible JB. Can you find where the spur was taken from and disconnect?
 
OK I can do that. Will have to remove more of the ceiling though. Looks as if the spur connection is a few more feet away.
 
Good point!

BTW removing the floorboards from above looks more difficult too.
