What's the most effective way to remove tiles from a wall. The old tiles on my bathroom wall are so well stuck that using a hammer and chisel is taking me ages to chisel them off inch by inch. Would it be best for me to hire a light pneumatic drill?
You could try sliding the claw part of a claw hammer down the wall to flick them off. Failing that, get/borrow an sds dril with a rotational lock and use a wide chisel bit. It's worth the investment in actually buying one, they really are 10x better than a regular hammer drill.
Be prepared to make the wall good when you've finished though. You'll probably need to patch the wall in places.
Good luck,
Gcol
i tried using a wide chisel bit with my sds drill but this was less effective than the hammer and chisel. I don't really understand how this could work since the hammer drill is still effectively doing a rotating drill type action rather than a hammer action pounding against the tiles. has this worked for you Gcol? maybe i'm doing it the wrong way.
