We currently have laminate (or something of that sort) tongue and groove floor running through the hall and into the lounge and kitchen (both of which are off the hall) with out any breaks. It has become damaged and we have decided that we would like to replace the hall flooring with carpet. The carpet shop have told us that we have to remove the flooring before they will come fit the new carpet.

There are joins in just the right places in the lounge and kitchen doorways to cut the floor.

My question is how do you remove wooden flooring if you don't want to remove all that has been laid? And what tools would we need? Oh, and it is easy to do for to amateur DIYers?
