Render External Plywood?

Hi,

We want to render one of the walls of our (open) external porch. Plan is to add some insulation to the porch wall backing our living room and then re render.

Question is can we render onto external ply? Or, if not, what should we use.

Thanks for the info.

I am going to be using some Marmox insulation boards (which are waterproof) on another job. Anybody know if I can render onto these?

Don't want to bodge it but it would help keep costs down. Only need about 1.5 sq m. The breathable membrane only seems to come in large rolls.
