rendering a replastering after damp proof course

Hi, i have had a DPC injection in my house and I understand it will now need replastering due to salts, I have read loods of things about rendering and am I right in saying once the render is applied I need to wait afew week until I give the wall the finishing plaster(skim) even if I hadd a water proofer to the mix

also i have read about moisture check boards has anyone had any experience with these

I will be grateful of any input
