I am going to render an internal brick wall in my bathroom - the wall is very uneven to say the least. It doesnt have to be perfect but good enough for the plasterer to work with to produce a flat wall.

Anyone got any hints or tips? I'm going to rent a mixer from HSS (£30 for a week or £11 for 2 days) so I can concentrate on getting the rendering right rather than mixed the stuff.

Just a thought.

Why not use plasterboard and adhesive (dot & dabs). You'll have instant dry warm wall, plumb and flat ready for deco or plaster skim over it.The plaster skim will dry quicker on the plasterboard. No mess & waiting to dry etc.The reason I done it this way in the bathroom was the speed progess as my family can't live without the bathroom!, bearing in mind I ripped everything out. The only other thing if you got ceiling coving then that will have to be replace.

Cheers masona

do you know if this can be used on a damp wall? I will be getting a new chemical DPC but the wall is damp at the moment.

Only reason I was planning on rendering it was because it'll be a lot cheaper.

I'm not sure depending how wet the damp is.Best to contact expert advice on www.british-gypsum.bpb.com/immediacy-353

You have to weigh the difference like plasterboard is warm + sound insulation and plaster is cold & longer drying out time etc.Yes,you're right it will be a lot cheaper but then its all depends how much time you got! If the costs is the issue then I would say plaster the wall if you're doing it yourselves.

masona, now you can insert pics you can do the same with links so instead of http://diynot.com you get this

but be careful using pictures (particularly a specific brand it is advertising, but for some unknown reason to mention something isn't
