We've never done this before and would normally say no but we've been approached by a local fireplace company who want us to do around 5 a week so thinking about it.

We've got our own scaffold, tools and people.

A guess would be, remove pot and slab, pull out old flue and slide down new flue securely, new slab, new pot new cowel?

Would it be best to work from below, tie the new flue to the bottom of the old flue and pull the lot up from upstairs? (The fireplace will be removed ready for us)

Any tips/advice much welcome, cheers :D

Pulling upwards while on a scaffold @ 30 feet vs. Pulling downwards in the warm house with someone on the scaffold guiding liner down  Well , I like pulling - so there`s only 1 way to find out

Let gravity work for you; I've not known anyone try & pull one pull one up through someone's lounge before, it can be bad enough trying to pull the bloody things down!

Who is going to certify the flue installation compliant or is that to be done with the stove install? Flue installation is supposed to be carried out by a registered installer unless you go through LABC for inspection. :!:

It's probably not a case of "just" pulling the old liner out, as more often than not it does not want to come out - so allow for this in any pricing.

And watch out for loose wobbly stacks, and dropping stuff onto tiles - or worse still the merc parked on the drive

Probably best to charge a call out and then additional charge per hour on site, per job.

we have done many. we work rom the top pulling down. some go easy. others are buggers.. form a cone on the bottom to hlp with the bends in stack/breast
