Renovating polished slate floor tiles

I have used lithofin slate seal on polished slate floor tiles and am unhappy with the effect. The first coat was absorbed and looked fine, but I was advised to apply a second coat to fully seal the tiles - this has dried unevenly, looks unnatural and has trapped airborne dust and fibres on the surface of the tile.

Can anbody advise me on the best way to perfect the finish?
